Facebook Optimizing your page SEO “Search Engine Optimization” - Facebook Marketing Secrets - Chapter 6

If you don’t have any idea about SEO, simply the main goal of search engine optimization is to increase the amount of traffic going to any given site by search engines. Now search engines (and mostly Google) serve as the starting point of a user’s journey around the web.

What’s great about Facebook’s public profiles is that Facebook already has a big amount of search engine
juice. Google alone has indexed over 430 million pages for Facebook.

1. Get Your URL
URLs are a large part or search engine optimization. Search engines use as much information as possible to determine the relevance of a particular page for a given search. For example my page has the following URL: http://www.facebook.com/rallapalli.kishore which makes it easier to access. The short URL is definitely effective at getting Google “juice”. Go here to get your custom URL http://www.facebook.com/username but make sure that you have got more than 25 fans.

2. Select A Good Title For Your Landing Page
The name of your Facebook is so important. On Facebook Pages there are few things you can use to boost your search engine rankings and page titles is one of those things. Many SEO experts will tell you that spending a lot of time on the title of a website isn’t important as much as the pages title inside that website. So spend enough time to configure the time of you Landing Page.

3. Generate Links To Your Page
Incoming links is the most important factor If you are looking to drive traffic though Search engines, one quick way is by linking to your website page. Additionally, If you can get links from other sites will help increase your rankings. One of the awesome way to increase the number of incoming links is by participating in forums around the web and setting a signature which links back to your page. And don’t forget to link to your other social profiles. This will most definitely help you gain some attention from Mr. Google.

Furthermore, Try your best to link to pages that relevant to your page. If your page about Football and you kept linking to pages about Fat Food, do you think that would really help out the readers with finding what they’re looking for? I guess not. Google takes into account the relevance of pages you are linking to when calculating the relevance of any given page.

These were just few tips and overall you should be take to the account your Google rank when configuring your Facebook Page. I’m not a SEO expert to talk for so long about SEO but I guess this will be enough for you to have your page well indexed.

writing guest posts and forum signature

I’m writing this tip after the SEO tip as I see that somehow they are relevant to each other, If you are a good writer or an active user in a forum. you going to benefit from this tip. As I mentioned in the Last tip that you should link to your other social profiles and forums. That will not only increase your SEO but will also make people to connect with you. In addition, when you write a guest post, the readers will most likely going to check your social network profiles. What is more, when you put your page link inside your signature box in the forum you are active on, people in that forum will love to connect with you.

“LIKE” box in your website

one of the great abilities that public profiles have while personal not, is that you can add a Like box that your website visitor will only need to click on it to become your fan instead of visiting your page.

Tagging

One of the best features of Facebook Pages is the ability to tag fans in photos. As soon as you tag somebody, their friends can see the photo that they’ve been tagged in. Additionally, those photos will link back to your Facebook Page. I’ve seen a number of people abuse photo tagging in order to get more traffic. While that’s a strategy that could possibly work in the short-run, over longer periods of time you’ll end up turning people away. It’s probably better to avoid most black-hat tactics as they can result in your Facebook account being banned and will frequently piss people off. Feel free to test the limits but just remember that we warned you!

You Can Only Tag Friends

One of the worst thing in photo tagging within Facebook Page photo albums is the inability to tag people that aren’t your friends. I honestly have no idea why the album functions going like this and I hope Facebook will resolve this.

Create A Tagging Game

Have you ever been tagged in one of those Facebook photos with 15 other people and the tag location is a unique attribute about you? If not, I’ve included an example at the right side. The basic concept is to tag other users in a fun image which ends up attributing a personal characteristic to each user that was tagged. It’s a really create way to build buzz and not annoy others. Don’t go over board with this model though. As there are a lot of people who don’t like this game.
